Read Write Now and the Community Adult Literacy Foundation (CALF) was a finalist in the Outstanding Partnership catergory at the awards. • The Community Adult Literacy Foundation (CALF) is an initiative of the volunteer Coordinators of the Read Write Now adult literacy program. It was set up as an incorporated body to access funding that would not be available to the Program directly, enter into tenancy and lease agreements and be able to receive bequests and gifts on behalf of the Program.
• CALF exists to work in partnership with the Read Write Now Program to provide students with the opportunities to access quality one-to-one tuition, free of charge to the student, in order to increase their literacy and/or numeracy skills and fulfil their individual needs, and enable them to participate more fully in society. RWN currently has over 600 volunteer tutors in the program assisting adult students.
• CALF’s Aim is to work in partnership with the Read Write Now Program to foster adult literacy in the community by: • Assisting in the provision of resources so tutors can provide a high quality literacy tutoring service. • Raising awareness of adult literacy needs and promoting literacy as a life skill that can be learned at any stage of life with no shame attached.
