On Tuesday March 17, RWN Volunteer tutors were emailed information regarding the COVID-19 virus. The information was as follows -
Dear Coordinators and Tutors
At Read Write Now Central Office, we have been following the official updates from WA's Department of Health and NM TAFE re the containment of COVID-19.
Acknowledging that the virus is expected to spread and that all tutoring takes place in public venues, Read Write Now recommends the following advice to keep everyone healthy and safe:
Tutors and Coordinators should follow the Public Health Advice re
COVID-19 by visiting the Government Department of Health website to receive the most up-to-date information on the spread of the virus.
In addition you should follow the advice of your own health professionals if you or a member of your household has other existing health issues or compromised immunity. Please consider your safety.
If you choose to continue tutoring you may want to contact your student (or ask your student to contact you) before each session to ask if they or anyone in their household is feeling unwell. Please be aware of the ‘social distancing’ policy of sitting 1.5m apart.
Notwithstanding following the Public Health Advice, if Coordinators and tutors feel more comfortable cancelling their interviews and lessons, they should feel free to do so.
Tutors are asked to inform students that there is no obligation to attend lessons pending resolution of the current health crisis.
If RWN tutors and or students decide not to continue their lessons, we would ask that each tutor informs their student and the Coordinator. Coordinators are asked to please email the RWN office so we can keep records for reporting purposes.
The Read Write Now Central Office is operating as per normal until we receive advice to the contrary from the College.
Please feel free to call if you have any questions.
