Your Read Write Now tutor will work closely with you on your goals and interests to ensure you get the most out of your sessions.
What you work on is largely up to you. Many students have a goal relating to a job or to a course they are studying and bring paperwork from their job or their course notes to sessions. The tutor plans a lesson using these materials to help build reading and writing skills. It is a faster track to success.
At the end of the session you will be given some work to take with you so you can practise during the week.
Each session is approximately an hour and a half.
Read Write Now is not a course, there are no set textbooks and no exams.
Read Write Now is not a course, there are no set textbooks and no exams. You and your tutor determine what you'll work on in your sessions.
Read Write Now tutors are ordinary people who value literacy and want to support and help others.
The tutors do a training course so they can give the best possible help to students.
All tutors are patient, good at explaining things and work at their student's pace. There is no pressure.
Coordinators try to match a student with a tutor they think they will get on well with, as this makes it easier to work together in partnership.
Read Write Now is continuing to follow advice from the WA Department of Health regarding the COVID-19 outbreak.
We are committed to the safety and well-being of our volunteers, our students and the wider community.
We are continuing our valuable help with reading and writing without the need to meet in person. Please check back to this site for new ideas and resources.
